IBM (IBM.US) deepens its involvement in the AI competition: releases a new version of its enterprise AI model
IBM (IBM.US) has released a new version of its AI model for enterprises, hoping to capitalize on the strong trend of enterprises adopting generative AI technologies. The Granite 3.0 model will be open-source, similar to other versions of IBM's Granite series AI models. This is different from competitors such as Microsoft (MSFT.US), which charge customers to access their models. IBM offers a paid tool called Watsonx to help run customized models within data centers.
Some new Granite model variants will be available for commercial use on the Watsonx platform starting Monday. Some of these models will also be available in Nvidia's (NVDA.US) software tool stack to help enterprises integrate AI models. IBM Research Director Dario Gil said the new Granite models were trained using Nvidia's H100 graphics processing units (GPUs).
