Hyperlane Announces 57% Token Airdrop To Community On April 22

The team behind the interoperability protocol Hyperlane announced their upcoming token airdrop plans, scheduled to take place at the end of this month. The airdrop is set to occur on April 22, with users able to check their eligibility to receive $HYPER tokens via a portal provided by the Hyperlane Foundation by April 13.

The token distribution will primarily benefit the community, with 57% of the supply allocated to users. The remaining circulating tokens will be distributed to the core team (25%), investors (10.9%), and the foundation’s treasury (7.1%). The tokens allocated to the community will be fully unlocked, while those allocated to the core team and investors will be locked for the first 12 months.

In addition to the token distribution to early users, Hyperlane is introducing an “expansion rewards” program. This program is based on developer and cross-chain end-user activity and will be distributed to users each quarter proportional to their activity on the network. This initiative aims to incentivize continued engagement and development within the Hyperlane ecosystem.

Nam Chu Hoai, a co-founder of Hyperlane, emphasized the significance of the retroactive token allocation at the time of the token generation event (TGE). He stated that this allocation is just the beginning of many more to come over the coming years, as protocol ownership begins to shift into the hands of developers and end-users who rely on Hyperlane to send assets and other critical messages across chains. This shift is part of Hyperlane's broader strategy to decentralize control and foster a more community-driven ecosystem.
