Hyatt Hotels Corporation has completed the acquisition of Playa Hotels & Resorts. Hyatt's portfolio consists of full-service hotels and resorts, select service hotels, all-inclusive resorts, and other properties, including timeshare and vacation units. The acquisition expands Hyatt's offering to include the Timeless Collection, Boundless Collection, Independent Collection, and Inclusive Collection. Standard International and its hotel brands are also owned by Hyatt.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) has completed the acquisition of Playa Hotels & Resorts N.V. (NASDAQ: PLYA), significantly bolstering its presence in the all-inclusive travel market. The acquisition includes the addition of 15 all-inclusive resorts, with eight already represented in Hyatt’s system under the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands. This expansion adds iconic beachfront resorts such as Secrets La Romana and Dreams La Romana in the Dominican Republic, Dreams Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen and Sunscape Cancun in Mexico to Hyatt’s portfolio.

Mark Hoplamazian, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyatt, stated, “As we welcome Playa into the Hyatt family, we are strengthening our leadership in the all-inclusive space through a combination of new locations, capabilities, and talent. Playa’s all-inclusive management platform complements Hyatt’s global scale and brand strength, enabling us to deliver compelling experiences for guests and members while driving strong performance for owners.”

The acquisition is a strategic move for Hyatt, which has been actively expanding its all-inclusive offerings. In 2013, Hyatt began its journey in the all-inclusive segment with the launch of Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands. This was followed by the acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021 and a strategic joint venture with Grupo Piñero for Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts in 2024. The addition of Playa Hotels & Resorts further solidifies Hyatt’s position as a leading provider of all-inclusive travel experiences.

Javier Águila, President of the Inclusive Collection at Hyatt, expressed his excitement about the acquisition. “We’re thrilled to welcome the Playa team into the Hyatt family – a move that not only strengthens our position as a global leader in all-inclusive, but also builds on our momentum in the segment. Spending time with the Playa team over the past several months has confirmed a deep cultural alignment and shared commitment to excellence.”

The acquisition will provide additional financial information during Hyatt’s second-quarter 2025 earnings conference call. Financial advisors BDT & MSD Partners and Berkadia served as lead financial and real estate advisors, respectively, while Latham & Watkins LLP acted as Hyatt’s legal advisor.
