U.S. and Houthis Agree to Ceasefire, Easing Middle East Tensions

The United States and the Houthi movement in Yemen have reached a ceasefire agreement, marking a significant step towards easing tensions in the Middle East. On Tuesday, U.S. President Trump announced the cessation of airstrikes against the Houthi movement. A Pentagon official confirmed that the U.S. military received orders on Monday evening to halt attacks on the Houthis. This decision comes after a period of heightened tensions, during which the Houthis had launched attacks on Israeli targets, prompting retaliatory strikes by the United States.

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio highlighted the importance of this agreement, emphasizing its focus on ensuring freedom of navigation. The Houthis, armed with weapons, pose a threat to global maritime trade, and the U.S. aims to mitigate this threat. Houthi leader Muhammad Ali al-Houthi acknowledged the ceasefire but warned that the group would continue its actions against Israel until Israel halts its military operations in Gaza.
