Honda Prelude Long-Term Test Begins: Assessing Controversial Hybrid Vehicle

Honda's new Prelude long-term test has begun, with the Rallye Red model to be driven until next summer. The car is considered controversial due to its perceived disconnection from the old Prelude and its hybrid drivetrain. It has seating capacity for four, but realistically fits two adults or one adult and two kids. The two-motor hybrid system produces 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, using a 2.0-liter Atkinson inline four-cylinder engine and an AC synchronous permanent-magnet electric motor and battery.
