Hexcel Corporation (NYSE: HXL) reported first-quarter 2026 results, with revenue rising to $501.5 million, a 9.9% increase compared to $456.5 million in the same period of 2025 according to the company's earnings report. The company exceeded analyst expectations, with non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) reaching $0.59, 35.6% above consensus estimates. GAAP diluted EPS for the quarter was $0.49, up 40.0% year-over-year.

The growth was driven by strong performance in the commercial aerospace segment, which accounted for 66% of total sales. Commercial aerospace revenue rose 18.8% to $332.7 million, supported by increased production rates for major programs such as the Airbus A350, A320, Boeing 787, and 737 MAX. Defense, Space & Other sales declined 4.3% to $168.8 million, primarily due to the divestiture of the Austrian-based industrial business in late 2025.

Operating income for the quarter was $57.6 million, a 30.3% increase compared to $44.2 million in Q1 2025. Adjusted operating income rose 49.0% to $67.5 million, reflecting improved gross margins and cost discipline. Gross margin for the quarter was 26.9%, up from 22.4% in the prior year.

Hexcel reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, maintaining revenue expectations of $2.0 billion to $2.1 billion and adjusted EPS of $2.10 to $2.30. The company also extended the maturity of its $750 million revolving credit facility to 2031, refinancing its previous facility that was set to mature in 2028.

Management attributed the strong performance to rising commercial aerospace build rates, normalization of customer inventories, and operational efficiency. Hexcel's chairman, CEO, and president, Tom Gentile, emphasized the company's confidence in its growth outlook despite ongoing geopolitical and supply chain challenges.
