Hera Group Confirms Orazio Iacono as CEO for 2026–2029 Term
The Hera Holders Committee has confirmed Orazio Iacono as Chief Executive Officer of Hera Group for a three-year term through 2029, according to recent corporate governance updates. Iacono, who assumed the role in May 2022, will continue leading the Italian utility giant, which operates in energy, water, and waste management sectors according to corporate updates.
Iacono brings extensive experience in infrastructure and sustainable development. Prior to joining Hera, he served as Chief Operating Officer for Sustainable Infrastructures at Saipem (January–May 2022) and held strategic advisory roles at Oaktree Capital Management/PwC Italy (February–September 2021). His career includes a significant tenure at Trenitalia, where he served as CEO from September 2017 to December 2020, overseeing international expansion and a €6.5 billion annual turnover.
A key focus under Iacono's leadership has been aligning Hera's operations with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles. As Manager of Renewable Energies ad interim, he has prioritized decarbonization and energy transition initiatives, reflecting Hera's strategic emphasis on sustainability. His earlier roles at Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) Group and Trenitalia also involved large-scale infrastructure modernization and operational restructuring.
The CEO confirmation underscores Hera's commitment to long-term stability amid evolving regulatory and market dynamics. Iacono's extended term coincides with Hera's strategic goals to strengthen renewable energy investments and enhance operational efficiency across its service regions in Italy and beyond.
With a background in civil engineering and business administration, Iacono's technical and managerial expertise positions him to navigate Hera's challenges in the energy transition era. The Holders Committee's decision reflects confidence in his ability to balance growth objectives with sustainability mandates.
