Helion has begun construction on its first commercial fusion power plant, Orion, in Malaga, Washington. The site was chosen for its access to transmission and legacy of energy innovation. Helion aims to provide electricity to Microsoft by 2028, with Constellation Energy serving as power marketer. The company has leased land from the Chelan County Public Utilities District and is working through the permitting process. Helion's approach of rapid iteration and testing has enabled progress toward a commercial fusion machine.
