Hawk Tuah Girl Posts, Then Deletes Podcast With Crypto Influencers—What’s Going On?
Haliey Welch, the "Hawk Tuah" girl who gained fame last year, has resurfaced after a long absence following the disastrous launch of her Solana meme coin in early December. Her return has been marked by chaos and confusion, as she posted and then deleted a podcast episode featuring crypto influencers.
Welch's "Talk Tuah" podcast episode, released on Thursday, was her first in over two months. The episode, which featured a conversation with Richard "FaZe Banks" Bengtson, Frank (DeGods creator), and Threadguy, was deleted from her YouTube channel shortly after it was posted. However, leaks of the episode have since circulated on social media.
In the episode, Welch discussed her experience with the meme coin launch, the backlash she faced, and her lawsuit against her business partners. She admitted to being "a little shook up" about the situation and suggested that she didn't fully understand what she was getting into.
Banks, who agreed to participate in the podcast under certain conditions, later claimed that Welch's team assured him that the episode wouldn't be released without his approval. However, he alleges that the episode was leaked, causing the HAWK token's price to pump and leading to further confusion.
The HAWK token's price more than doubled on Thursday afternoon but has since cooled, up just 9% to a current price of $0.00078, according to CoinMarketCap data.
Decrypt reached out to Welch's spokesperson for details on the episode launch and response to Banks' comments but did not immediately receive a response.
