National Steel Car Limited in Hamilton has been fined $90,000 and ordered to pay court costs and a surcharge after a worker was critically injured in 2022. The company pleaded guilty to violating Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act by failing to ensure machinery was equipped with guards to prevent access to pinch points. This is the third fatality at the company in five years, with the previous case resulting in a $240,000 fine.
