Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and GE Aerospace have signed an agreement to produce the GE F414 engines for the Light Combat Aircraft Mark-2 (LCA Mk2) in India, with substantial transfer of technology. The announcement comes at a time when the Indian Air Force is in urgent need to induct advanced combat jets like the Mk2. Certain commercial aspects of the agreement are still being discussed, but work to ensure a swift conclusion is ongoing.
