Greenlane is expanding its commercial electric vehicle charging network along the I-10 corridor, connecting Southern California to Phoenix. The expansion is supported by a partnership with Windrose Technology, an OEM of electric trucks that has validated the viability of long-haul electric trucking through successful single-charge journeys. Greenlane's high-performance charging network will serve as a critical backbone for zero-emission freight, supporting Windrose's plans to manufacture 2,000 electric trucks in 2026 and scale up to 10,000 in 2027.
Greenlane Infrastructure, a joint venture led by Daimler Truck North America, has announced plans to expand its commercial electric vehicle charging network along the I-10 corridor, connecting Southern California to Phoenix. This expansion is supported by a strategic partnership with Windrose Technology, an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of electric trucks.
The new corridor will leverage Greenlane's existing charging infrastructure, including the recently opened Greenlane Center™ in Colton, California, as well as new sites to be developed in Blythe, California, and the Greater Phoenix area. Windrose Technology has validated the viability of long-haul electric trucking through successful single-charge journeys from Colton to Phoenix and Las Vegas, with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 74,420 pounds [1].
Windrose's R700 Class 8 electric semi successfully completed single-charge hauls from the Colton location to both Phoenix and Las Vegas, demonstrating the real-world capability of electric trucks for demanding long-haul freight operations. The Phoenix route, which spans nearly 300 miles, is particularly significant as it showcases the truck's ability to carry near-maximum payloads over long distances [2].
Greenlane's high-performance charging network, with peak charging power of 772 kW, will serve as a critical backbone for zero-emission freight, supporting Windrose's plans to manufacture 2,000 electric trucks in 2026 and scale up to 10,000 in 2027. Windrose will utilize Greenlane's infrastructure to power its R700 electric trucks for pilot customers along the I-15 and I-10 corridors [2].
Nevoya, an electric trucking carrier focused on helping shippers transition to electric transportation, will operate Windrose trucks along the I-10 corridor. Nevoya plans to operate battery-electric trucks along the corridor, with the Greenlane Center in Colton serving as a base for charging and driver support [1].
The expansion of Greenlane's network along the I-10 corridor addresses a critical gap in infrastructure for electric trucking along one of America's busiest freight highways. By establishing charging infrastructure along key transportation arteries, Greenlane is providing the foundation fleets need to scale their electric operations.
