Graphjet Technology, a leading developer of graphite and graphene production technologies, expects new equipment and machineries to arrive in Malaysia by the end of the week. The new equipment will increase production capacity by 7 times and improve graphite quantity and quality. The new equipment is designed to support large-scale output and maintain control over parameters and processing conditions. This is part of the company's wider plan for expansion.
Graphjet Technology (NASDAQ:GTI), a leading developer of patented technologies to produce graphite and graphene directly from agricultural waste, is set to receive new equipment and machineries at its Malaysia facility by the end of this week. This significant upgrade is part of the company's broader expansion plan and is expected to increase production capacity by approximately sevenfold.
The new equipment and machineries are designed to enhance the quantity and quality of the graphite produced by Graphjet. CEO Chris Lai highlighted that the company has begun generating revenue from product sales and views this expansion as crucial for meeting customer demand for their environmentally friendly graphite. The upgraded machinery features enhanced specifications that will support large-scale output while maintaining better control over processing conditions, a key factor in delivering graphite that meets the stringent requirements of the EV battery and semiconductor industries [2].
Graphjet Technology was founded in 2019 in Malaysia and has the world's first patented technology to recycle palm kernel shells generated in the production of palm seed oil to produce single layer graphene and artificial graphite. The company's sustainable production methods utilizing palm kernel shells, a waste agricultural product common in Malaysia, aim to set a new shift in the global graphite and graphene supply chain [1].
This expansion is timely, as the company is currently addressing non-compliances with Nasdaq listing requirements and preparing for a shareholders' meeting on July 30, 2025, to approve a reverse split exercise [1]. The completion of the Form 10Qs for the December 31, 2024, and March 31, 2025, filings will allow the company to take necessary measures to raise funds and further expand its capacity and capabilities.
