Graphite Network has introduced the Reputation Phonebook, a groundbreaking tool designed to combat phone-based fraud and enhance the utility of Web3 identity. The Phonebook leverages decentralized technology to bring transparency and reputation scoring to phone numbers, addressing the growing issue of scams that exploit phone calls. These scams, ranging from lottery fraud in South Korea to fake insurance calls in Europe and customer service impersonation in India and Africa, have become increasingly sophisticated, making traditional tools ineffective.
The Reputation Phonebook operates by allowing users to verify their phone number ownership through SMS or Telegram, linking their number to a smart contract that accrues on-chain reputation points. These points can then be used to cast positive or negative votes on other numbers, creating a transparent and accountable system. Users can view the reputation score of any number, helping them determine the trustworthiness of incoming calls. For instance, if a user receives a call from a number claiming to be their bank, they can check the number's reputation score on the Phonebook to verify its legitimacy.
The Reputation Phonebook has significant implications for both individuals and financial platforms. For individuals, it provides a simple way to check the trustworthiness of phone numbers, protecting them from impersonation attacks and emergency scams. For DeFi and TradFi platforms, it offers a means of integrating phone number verification powered by decentralized identity, enhancing customer onboarding, fraud prevention, and community safety. The Phonebook's zk-proof technology allows platforms to apply filters, offer tiered access based on trust, and streamline KYC processes without compromising privacy.
Graphite Network's broader ecosystem is powered by a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) Polymer 2.0 consensus, which aims to reduce gas and energy costs while supporting EVM compatibility for building dApps and smart contracts. Key features of the ecosystem include optional zk-powered KYC for enhanced privacy, a Trust Score system reflecting identity credibility, reputation-based smart contracts for dynamic access control, and a one user, one account policy to prevent multi-account abuse. The network also introduces an earning model where both entry and authorized nodes can earn directly from the blockchain.
Looking ahead, Graphite Network has an ambitious roadmap that includes the development of a reputation-based dating app, a Hotspot Bundle for blockchain access in low-connectivity regions, a DePIN geo game that tokenizes real-world objects, and a reputation-based voting system for decentralized governance. These innovations underscore Graphite Network's commitment to building practical, intuitive, and useful tools for everyday people, not just crypto professionals.
Recent updates to the Graphite Network ecosystem include a successful smart contract audit by CertiK, the launch of a Market-Staking Program with an expanded reward pool, and the upcoming listing of the native token $@G on BitMart. The network has also established strategic partnerships with BitMart and Conflux Network, focusing on building globally compliant infrastructure. Community growth has been significant, with over 50% expansion and the launch of a dedicated developer group.
Graphite Network has also focused on strengthening its core infrastructure, including updates to the wallet system for more direct control, refined token display for better clarity, and improvements to the Instant Exchange interface for easier onboarding and cross-chain transactions. The explorer has seen enhancements with a refreshed UI and a new leaderboard showcasing top accounts by activity and trust score. These updates reflect a system maturing behind the scenes, laying the groundwork for long-term reliability and scalability.
