The Irish Government has purchased the Citywest Hotel in Dublin for €148m to use as a permanent international protection accommodation center. The hotel will remain open to the local community, and concerns about the impact on the community have been addressed through a community engagement plan. The purchase price is considered value for money, and the State aims to provide 14,000 State-owned beds for asylum seekers by 2028.
