ABC News’ Good Morning America is set to spotlight a local Dallas-Fort Worth business this Wednesday as part of its My Kind of Town series. The morning show will highlight the Southlake location of the Dallas-based La La Land Kind Cafe, marking the third installment of a series dedicated to showcasing "neighbors helping neighbors, and making a difference in their communities."
Led by Arlington native and ABC News reporter Will Ganss, the series aims to shine a light on community-driven initiatives. Since its kickoff in Detroit on July 28, where Ganss visited the woman-owned company Rebel Nell, which transforms fallen graffiti into jewelry, the series has focused on uplifting narratives. On Tuesday, Ganss will also highlight Shear Hope Collective in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, a grooming service that supports underserved communities at no cost.
Ganss expressed enthusiasm about visiting La La Land, describing it as an exemplary embodiment of the hospitable Texan spirit. The cafe, known for employing young individuals aging out of the foster care system, promotes a mission of normalizing kindness. The segment is expected to include a three-minute video featuring the cafe’s founder and CEO, Francois Reihani, scheduled to air Wednesday morning. While Ganss will be on-site in Southlake, public access to the taping is restricted. Nevertheless, the Southlake La La Land store will maintain its operations for customers.
Established in 2019, La La Land Kind Cafe initially opened on Bell Avenue in Dallas’ Lower Greenville neighborhood. Since then, it has expanded across North Texas, with locations in Addison, Fort Worth, Richardson, and Plano, as well as in Houston and Los Angeles. The Southlake La La Land Kind Cafe is situated at 2175 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite 180.
