Goldman's chief technology officer has joined Citadel, a hedge fund.
Another senior executive has jumped to Citadel, this time from Goldman Sachs, where the chief technology officer (CTO) Atte Lahtiranta is joining Citadel, the hedge fund run by Ken Griffin, to manage the core engineering team and focus on technology supporting trading and risk.
Ken Griffin believes these roles are attracting the attention of senior executives at large investment companies. He said at the Milken Institute Global Conference in May that the focus on AI has increased the importance of CTOs and CIOs.
Citadel and its rivals have been using fat paychecks to attract top talent, many of whom are highly paid.
Citadel has been a hot spot for former Goldman executives. Key investment, operations and administrative positions at the hedge fund are held by former Goldman executives, such as Pablo Salame, who was the head of trading at Goldman.
