GM updates oil recommendation for 6.2-liter V8, saves dealers and DIYers money

GM has revised its recommended oil for its 6.2-liter V8 engines to Mobil 1 0W-40 FS, a cheaper and more widely available formula. The previous recommendation was Mobil 1 0W-40 Supercar, which increased fuel consumption and was more expensive. Dealers and DIYers can now save money by using the new recommended oil. The change came in a January dealer bulletin.
