GM Powers Up: Tapping into Tesla's Supercharger Network with New Adapter
General Motors (GM) recently announced the launch of a certified adapter enabling its electric vehicle (EV) users to access Tesla's vast Supercharger network. This move marks a significant transition from the Combined Charging System (CCS) to Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS), allowing GM's EV owners to utilize thousands of Tesla charging stations across the country.
The NACS adapter is now available for purchase through GM's application at a price of $225. This tool provides GM drivers access to over 23,000 public charging stations, including 17,800 Tesla Superchargers. By using the app, drivers can easily find nearby Superchargers, monitor their status, initiate charging, and complete payments seamlessly.
Wade Sheffer, Vice President of GM Energy, emphasized the company's dedication to expanding public charging infrastructure to advance an all-electric future. Offering access to a wider range of fast public chargers aligns with GM’s efforts to enhance customer experience and facilitate a smoother transition to electric mobility.
GM's strategic collaboration with Tesla underscores its commitment to sustainable transportation. By enabling access to Tesla's reliable network, GM not only broadens its charging solutions but also strengthens the foundation for increased adoption of electric vehicles. This strategic initiative is poised to elevate consumer satisfaction and ensure a more convenient charging experience for its users.
The newly certified adapter is initially available in the United States and is expected to reach Canadian markets later this year, reflecting GM's broader efforts to enhance its charging infrastructure globally.
