Gilat Satellite Networks has secured a $25 million agreement with Peru's national telecommunications program, Pronatel, for the modernization of the Regional Broadband network in Cusco. This deal, announced on August 26, 2025, is part of an ongoing partnership aimed at enhancing digital inclusion in remote areas. Gilat's Peruvian subsidiary, Gilat Perú, will be responsible for the implementation of the project.
The modernization project is expected to be completed within the next 12 months, with services to be delivered over a five-year period. The upgraded network will provide 200 Mbps connectivity to nearly 208 public institutions, including schools, health centers, and police stations, as well as 69 public free WiFi hotspots. This initiative is framed as a continuation of Gilat's collaboration with the Peruvian state to expand digital inclusion in remote areas.
The contract value of $25 million represents a significant revenue-generating opportunity for Gilat, supporting the company's mission to deliver high-speed internet connectivity to underserved regions. The project also reinforces Gilat's operational experience in challenging geographies, potentially lowering execution risks. The deal emphasizes continuity with the Peruvian state, which can be strategically important for future awards.
