General Motors (GM.US) said earlier this week it would lay off nearly 1,700 workers at its Fairfax Assembly and stamping plant in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a worker adjustment and retraining notification filed with the Kansas City Department of Commerce. The layoffs of 680 people will begin on November 18, according to reports. GM has made several rounds of layoffs this year.

Turning market noise into visual signal.
