The network's expansion is part of GM's broader strategy to sell only electric vehicles by 2035. By providing convenient and reliable charging options, GM aims to address one of the primary barriers to EV adoption. The partnership with Pilot and EVgo ensures that drivers can access charging stations along essential travel routes, with 24/7 availability [1].
The collaboration has seen significant growth, expanding from 25+ states to nearly 40 in under a year. States such as Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Texas, Missouri, and Florida have joined the network. This expansion aims to bridge charging gaps, particularly in rural areas where only 45% of counties had at least one fast charging stall at the start of 2025 [1].
The network offers a range of amenities, including free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants, and grocery and convenience items, making it a convenient stop for EV drivers. Additionally, the network features overhead canopies for sun and snow protection and pull-through stalls for easy charging for drivers towing trailers or traveling in electric vans. The Plug and Charge feature is also available for compatible EV models, simplifying the charging process [1].
The partnership's success can be attributed to the strategic deployment of charging infrastructure along interstate travel corridors, which carry more than 20% of the total traffic in the U.S. [1].
