To run this back-test we need to clarify a few practical details so I can set up the data requests correctly: 1. Universe definition • Which exchange(s) should the stocks come from (e.g., all U.S.-listed common shares on NYSE + NASDAQ, or a different universe)? 2. Weighting scheme inside the daily “Top-500” basket • Equal weight (1/500 each) or volume-proportional weights? 3. Trade price assumptions • Open the position at the next day’s open and liquidate at that day’s close (true 1-day holding period), or buy at today’s close and exit at tomorrow’s close? 4. Transaction costs / slippage • Should we apply any per-trade commission or bid-ask slippage assumption? Because our back-testing engine currently handles one ticker at a time, I’ll construct the strategy’s P&LPG-- by aggregating the individual stock returns in the Top-500 basket each day. Once you confirm the above items (and add any other constraints you have), I’ll fetch the data and run the calculation from 2022-01-03 (first trading day of 2022) through today.

Hunt down the stocks with explosive trading volume.
