GE Vernova agreed to acquire French software company Alteia to bolster AI capabilities and provide utilities with visual data solutions for situational intelligence and actionable insights. The acquisition aims to help utility companies check grid damage. Financial terms were not disclosed.

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has announced its intention to acquire Alteia SAS, a French software company specializing in AI computer vision and machine learning. The acquisition aims to bolster GE Vernova's AI capabilities and provide utilities with advanced visual data solutions for situational intelligence and actionable insights. This strategic move is part of GE Vernova's broader strategy to enhance its GridOS portfolio, which helps utilities manage and operate the electric grid more effectively.

The acquisition will integrate Alteia's AI-driven visual intelligence solutions into GE Vernova's GridOS Visual Intelligence platform. This will enable utilities to "see and sense" the grid, providing an enhanced level of situational awareness. By combining visual and operational data, the system will help utilities proactively address critical pain points, such as damage assessments and vegetation management, to prevent disruptions and restore power quickly [1].

Scott Reese, CEO of GE Vernova’s Electrification Software business, expressed excitement about the acquisition, noting that it will further solidify GE Vernova's position as a data and AI leader in grid orchestration software. Michael de Lagarde, CEO of Alteia SAS, highlighted the alignment of Alteia's mission with GE Vernova's GridOS portfolio, emphasizing the potential for enhanced solutions and accelerated AI roadmaps [1].

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the transaction is expected to close on August 1, 2025 [1]. This acquisition follows a period of strong growth for GE Vernova, driven by increasing power demand from data centers used for AI and cryptocurrency technologies [3].

The integration of Alteia's technology into GE Vernova's GridOS portfolio is expected to accelerate the growth of GE Vernova's electrification software segment, which has been growing at mid-single digit percentage rates in recent years [3]. This acquisition aligns with GE Vernova's forward-looking strategy to tackle critical pain points in grid management and enhance the resilience of utility infrastructure.
