GE Aerospace has announced a formal teaming agreement with Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. This collaboration aims to advance propulsion technologies for the next generation of affordable unmanned aerial systems and collaborative combat aircraft. The partnership focuses on developing the GEK800 and GEK1500 engines, which are designed to support various defense applications, including unmanned aerial systems and collaborative combat aircraft.

Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos, highlighted the strategic importance of this agreement, emphasizing Kratos' commitment to delivering affordable and high-performance propulsion solutions. Amy Gowder, President and CEO of Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace, echoed this sentiment, noting the significance of this collaboration in providing adaptable, high-performance propulsion systems for future defense needs.

The agreement builds on a previous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last year, which aimed to advance the development and production of small, cost-effective engines for unmanned platforms. This new teaming agreement provides a framework for the two companies to develop, manufacture, test, and field the GEK800 Engine, as well as collaborate on other low-cost expendable turbofan engines.

Kratos brings over 20 years of experience in developing and producing small, affordable engines for unmanned aerial systems, drones, and missile platforms. GE Aerospace contributes a century of expertise in propulsion technology and the ability to scale advanced designs into high-rate production, helping to bridge the gap from prototype to deployment.
