Galaxea AI, a Beijing-based robotics startup, has raised $100 million in two financing rounds, valuing the company at $700 million. The startup aims to build "10 billion robots for 10 billion people" and expects humanoid robots to enter homes within less than a decade. Galaxea AI has already shipped robots to clients including Huawei and Volkswagen, and is racing against Tesla's Optimus in the humanoid robotics market.

Beijing-based robotics startup Galaxea AI has secured more than $100 million across two new financing rounds, pushing its valuation to $700 million. The funding, led by Capital Today, Meituan's Long-Z Investments, and Meituan's strategic arm, with continued support from investors such as Ant Group, IDG Capital, Baidu Ventures, GL Ventures, and FunPlus, has significantly bolstered the company's financial position [1].

Founded in September 2023 by a team of scientists from Tsinghua and Stanford universities, Galaxea AI aims to build "10 billion robots for 10 billion people." The company's mission is to accelerate the commercialization of its R1 humanoid robots, priced between $44,500 and $64,000. By the end of 2025, Galaxea AI plans to ship up to 1,000 units, with half sold domestically and half overseas [1].

Galaxea AI's R1 series robots are designed for industrial tasks such as assembling car components, but the company also plans to expand into home robotics by 2026. The company has already shipped robots to clients including Huawei Cloud, Volkswagen, Haier, Samsung, ByteDance, Physical Intelligence, Stanford University, and MIT [1].

The global humanoid robotics market is projected to reach $1.7 trillion by 2050, driven by aging populations and automation needs. Galaxea AI's full-stack AI approach and data-driven ecosystem aim to create recurring revenue and accelerate global humanoid development, differentiating it from competitors like Tesla and Boston Dynamics [2].

Galaxea AI's proprietary G0 AI model enhances robots' ability to understand language, perform reasoning, and execute complex tasks. The company's next major release will be the two-legged humanoid planned for 2026, with household integration following industrial adoption within a decade [1].

Despite no recorded revenue in 2024, the company projects tens of millions of yuan in 2025 sales and is targeting profitability in 2026. By year-end, Galaxea expects its workforce to grow from 120 to 200 employees [1].

Galaxea AI is competing against Tesla's Optimus humanoid in the humanoid robotics market. The company's strategic partnerships and aggressive market timing position it as a key player in the global humanoid robotics revolution [2].
