Futu Launches Crypto Deposits in Hong Kong, Integrating Digital Assets with Traditional Finance

Futu Securities International, a prominent online retail brokerage, has officially launched its cryptocurrency deposit service in Hong Kong. This new feature allows eligible investors to deposit and trade Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT) on the trading platform, marking a significant step in integrating traditional finance with digital assets.

This development enables investors to fund their accounts with cryptocurrencies and trade them alongside traditional asset classes, transforming Futu into a hybrid investment platform. This move is expected to attract both experienced and new market players, providing them with a seamless experience in managing their portfolios.

Through the Futu NiuNiu app, investors can now manage both virtual and traditional assets within a single interface. This includes Hong Kong, U.S., and Japanese stocks, ETFs, options, funds, and bonds. The app allows users to transfer capital between crypto investments and traditional investments with just a few taps, facilitating more agile portfolio management.

Futu’s newly introduced “coin recharge function” allows clients to increase their crypto positions or convert them into other asset classes. This feature supports dynamic investment strategies and positions Futu as a bridge between centralized finance and decentralized finance, catering to the growing demand for digital assets.

Looking ahead, Futu plans to offer crypto withdrawals following the successful testing of stablecoin deposits in Circle’s USDC and Tether’s USDT. The Managing Director, Xie Zhijian, highlighted the increasing demand for digital assets among investors, noting that few local brokerages are currently meeting this demand.

Since introducing crypto trading in August 2024, Futu has been actively engaging retail investors with promotions such as giveaways of Alibaba and Nvidia shares. The latest crypto feature further expands Futu’s ecosystem, aligning with the evolving needs of investors in the competitive financial landscape of Hong Kong.
