The Tenacity team will continue to provide industry-leading products and service to valued customers.
Frontier Airlines (FRON) has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Florida, with new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Detroit, Houston, Chicago, and Charlotte. These flights, set to launch in winter 2025, are part of Frontier's broader strategy to increase its presence in the Florida low-cost market, traditionally dominated by Spirit Airlines (SAVE) [1].
The new routes include flights to Detroit, Houston, Chicago, and Charlotte from Fort Lauderdale, as well as additional routes from Houston to New Orleans, Baltimore, Guatemala City, and San Pedro Sula in Honduras. Frontier has also announced new flights between Charlotte and Detroit, running twice-weekly from November 23, and between Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) and Mexico's Cancún, launching on November 22 [1].
Frontier's CEO, Barry Biffle, emphasized that the expansion is aimed at providing consumers with affordable flight options as industry capacity adjusts. The new routes are promoted with promotional rates starting at $29 for short flights and up to $89 for international routes, valid for travel between October 20 and January 5, 2025 [1].
The announcement of the new routes has had a positive impact on Frontier's stock, which saw a moderate boost to $36.96, up 6% since the start of 2025. This performance stands in contrast to many other low-cost airlines that have seen their stock prices drop [1].
Frontier's expansion into Florida coincides with Spirit's regulatory submission expressing doubts about its ability to stay in business. Frontier's move into this space suggests a competitive response to Spirit's potential challenges and an effort to capture a larger share of the market [1].
