Friday's Market Wrap: Major US Stock Indexes Close Lower Amid Holiday-Shortened Week

With the holiday-shortened week coming to a close, the major US stock indexes finished Friday on a down note. The S&P 500 fell 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 333 points, or 0.8%, and the Nasdaq composite dropped 1.5%. Despite the loss, the S&P 500 had a modest gain for the week, up 0.7%, and is still headed for its second consecutive annual gain of more than 20%. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose slightly.
