JOE --

It is reported that Fox News has invited Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump to debate on September 17 in Pennsylvania.

Following President Joe Biden's announcement on Sunday that he would withdraw from the race and support Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate, Harris quickly secured enough support from party delegates and has now locked in the Democratic presidential nomination.

Fox News has proposed that its political anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum serve as the debate moderators. The company also stated that they are willing to discuss the specific details of the debate, including the date, format, location, and whether there will be a live audience.

It is currently unclear whether Harris and Trump will accept Fox News's invitation.

The day before Fox News extended the invitation, Trump told reporters that he was willing to engage in multiple debates with Harris. At the same time, Trump criticized ABC News for being biased against him, advocating that the second presidential debate should be hosted by Fox News.

Another debate between Biden and Trump was originally scheduled to be held by ABC News on September 10, but it became uncertain due to Biden's withdrawal.

After the change in the Democratic presidential candidate, Trump's campaign team has been trying to portray Harris as the same opponent with a different face. Trump said on Tuesday that debating Harris would not be any different because Kamala Harris is just as much of a joke as Joe Biden is.

Meanwhile, after Biden's withdrawal, the Democratic Party's morale has been greatly boosted, and Harris has become the new hope for the party to confront Trump. The upcoming debate will be a redemption opportunity for the Democratic Party.

After Biden's disastrous performance in the debate in June, the Democratic Party was worried, not only about the possibility of the White House changing hands but also about the concerns of voters about Biden's age and health, which would drag down the party's prospects in both houses of Congress.

Since Biden's withdrawal, Harris's popularity has soared rapidly, not only receiving record-breaking donations but also leading Trump by a slight margin in some polls.

The Reuters/Ipsos national poll conducted on Monday and Tuesday showed that among registered voters, Harris led Trump with a 44% approval rate compared to Trump's 42%.
