Former OpenAI researcher plans to set up an AI education company, with the first product being a postgraduate-level course
Andrej Karpathy, a founding member of OpenAI, is developing a new project that combines artificial intelligence with education. On Tuesday, he posted on X that he would be founding a company called Eureka Labs. The company would use AI tutors to support and scale curriculum designed by human teachers. The company's first product would be a college-level course that teaches students how to train their own AI system models, he said. "This combination of teachers and AI can run an entire curriculum on a single platform," Karpathy said on X. "If we succeed, then anyone can learn anything." Karpathy is a big name in the AI industry. Until February, he was a senior researcher at OpenAI. He helped start OpenAI, then worked as a senior AI engineer at Tesla, and led the team behind the Autopilot system. He then returned to OpenAI. Earlier this year, Karpathy left OpenAI again to work on personal projects.
