Ford Recalls 101,944 Vehicles Over Detachable Door Panels

Ford Motor Company has initiated a recall of approximately 101,944 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could cause the door trim panel to detach during vehicle operation. The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), highlights a potential safety issue that could lead to the door trim panel falling off while the vehicle is in motion. This defect poses a risk to both the driver and passengers, as well as other road users, as the detached panel could obstruct the driver's view or cause a distraction.

The affected vehicles include 2016 to 2019 model year Taurus sedans. The issue involves the B-pillar trim panel, which is located between the driver's seat and the rear passenger seat on both sides of the vehicle. During driving, this panel may detach, creating a road safety hazard and increasing the risk of a collision. Dealers will inspect the B-pillar trim panel and repair or replace it as necessary, at no cost to the vehicle owner.

This recall adds to Ford's already extensive list of safety recalls. The company has issued 88 safety recalls by June 2025, surpassing the number of recalls issued by any other automaker in a single year. Earlier this year, Ford conducted a major recall involving 850,000 pickups and SUVs due to a potential fuel pump malfunction. Earlier this month, the automaker recalled 1,456,417 vehicles due to a defective rearview camera.
