Flare, a Layer 1 blockchain, is designed to introduce smart contract capabilities to assets that do not natively support them, such as XRP, Bitcoin, and Dogecoin. The project leverages the Flare Time Series
(FTSO) to provide decentralized data to decentralized applications (dApps) and supports cross-chain interoperability through its native bridge systems. Flare aims to serve as the data and utility layer for blockchains that currently lack programmability, and it is closely tied to XRP, acting as the smart contract extension that the XRP Ledger never had. After a challenging post-launch year, Flare has re-entered a critical support range that traders are now considering a buying zone. Several factors are aligning to support this trend. Technical support is observed around $0.025–$0.028, and there is growing total value locked (TVL) from ecosystem dApps. Additionally, upcoming protocol upgrades and integrations, along with improved liquidity on centralized exchanges (CEXes) and decentralized exchanges (DEXes), are contributing to this positive outlook. With the speculative noise around the airdrop now subsiding, Flare appears poised for more fundamentals-driven growth.
Flare was initially introduced as “Smart Contracts for XRP,” and although its scope has broadened, the connection to XRP remains significant. This relationship provides Flare with a massive existing community, as XRP holders are already familiar with FLR from the airdrop. Furthermore, as Ripple Labs continues its regulatory battles, Flare offers a more flexible and programmable alternative for developers within the XRP ecosystem. Institutional interest in XRP could potentially spill over into FLR as the infrastructure matures.
FLR has underperformed many of its peers over the past year, but this could also indicate greater upside potential. Flare's price reached around $0.046 previously, and from the current price, FLR could easily make another 100% in the next bull cycle. If Flare’s cross-chain tools,
, and data feeds start gaining traction across other chains—not just XRP—then its utility narrative becomes much stronger. Combined with low prices and a more mature market cycle, FLR could be a sleeper hit in 2025.
