Ferrari Unveils 849 Testarossa Plug-in Hybrid with 1,050 Horsepower

Ferrari has unveiled its latest sports car, the 849 Testarossa, which brings back the classic name and boasts 1,050 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid vehicle features a mid-rear twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. The starting price is set at 460,000 euros ($540,000) for the coupe and 500,000 euros ($586,000) for the Spider version. Deliveries to clients are scheduled to start in the second and third quarters of next year, with deliveries to the US expected some three months later.

Ferrari has recently introduced its latest sports car, the 849 Testarossa, which pays homage to the iconic original Testarossa model from the 1980s. The new plug-in hybrid vehicle features a mid-rear twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 1,050 horsepower. The 849 Testarossa replaces the 2019 SF90 Stradale at the top of Ferrari's range and is available in both coupe and retractable-top 'spider' versions.

The starting price for the coupe version is set at 460,000 euros ($540,000), while the spider version is priced at 500,000 euros ($586,000). Deliveries to European clients are scheduled to start in the second and third quarters of next year, with deliveries to U.S. clients expected to commence three months later, at higher prices due to import tariffs.

The 849 Testarossa features a mid-rear mounted, 4-liter, eight-cylinder turbo engine capable of 830 horsepower, coupled with three electric motors for a total output of 1,050 horsepower. This configuration allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of over 330 kilometers per hour. The car's interior blends classic Berlinetta styling with single-seater cockpit sensibilities, offering a premium driving experience.

Ferrari's CEO Benedetto Vigna has confirmed that the company will continue to produce petrol and hybrid cars alongside their upcoming electric vehicles, as part of a three-stage process culminating in a world premiere next spring. The 849 Testarossa is the latest in a series of new model releases from Ferrari, which has been aggressively expanding its lineup.
