Famasi Africa, a leading pharmacy platform in Nigeria, has launched CareCapital for Women, a six-week initiative designed to empower female-owned and female-led pharmacies across the country [1]. The programme aims to address the challenges these pharmacies face by providing training in supply chain best practices, data analytics, and financial access, with a focus on enabling business growth and improved community healthcare delivery [1].
Approximately 83% of community pharmacies in Nigeria lack institutional financing, which limits their ability to maintain adequate medicine stocks, expand their operations, or invest in better systems [1]. Famasi, having partnered with over 1,000 pharmacies in the past 18 months, has identified financial management and scalability as major barriers to growth [1]. These issues have, in turn, contributed to limited access to medications for patients.
Through CareCapital for Women, 50 selected pharmacies will receive tailored support to strengthen their operations. The top six performers will be awarded a grant of NGN10 million, as well as diagnostic and telemedicine tools to enhance patient services [1]. Pharm. Adeola Ayoola, CEO and Co-founder of Famasi, highlighted that pharmacies serve as the primary point of access to healthcare in emerging markets and that the initiative is a direct response to the challenges identified through Famasi’s long-term collaboration with pharmacy networks [1].
The application deadline for the programme is 1 August 2025, with shortlisted pharmacies to be notified by 15 August 2025. The programme is set to begin on 17 August 2025 [1].
