This collaboration aims to enhance customer experiences with new payment solutions and an active loyalty program for over 10 million users. CGI, which processes 1.6 billion transactions annually in 29 countries, will support ExxonMobil's service station fuel sales and infrastructure, offering various tools such as payment information management, price control, and customer support.
ExxonMobil, the multinational oil and gas corporation, has recently strengthened its collaboration with Canadian technology firm CGI to offer advanced payment and loyalty services across Europe and Asia-Pacific [1]. This strategic partnership aims to improve customer experiences and enhance the capabilities of ExxonMobil's service station fuel sales and infrastructure.
CGI, which processes approximately 1.6 billion transactions annually in 29 countries, has been contracted to provide various tools and services to support ExxonMobil's initiatives. These include payment information management, price control, and customer support. The company's expertise in loyalty marketing has also been instrumental in helping ExxonMobil design personalized customer journeys and messaging, thereby reducing campaign costs and improving overall customer engagement [1].
ExxonMobil's decision to partner with CGI comes at a time when the company is undergoing significant changes in its business strategy. In October 2023, ExxonMobil announced its intention to merge with Pioneer Natural Resources in an all-stock transaction valued at $59.5 billion [2]. This merger is expected to create an industry-leading, high-quality, high-return undeveloped U.S. unconventional inventory position and generate double-digit returns through more efficient resource recovery and lower environmental impact.
The partnership with CGI is not ExxonMobil's first foray into advanced technology solutions. In 2021, the company invested $250 million in a partnership with Microsoft to develop and implement new digital technologies across its operations [3]. With the integration of these innovative solutions and partnerships, ExxonMobil aims to strengthen its position as a leading player in the global oil and gas industry.
