The fire escalated to a three-alarm blaze, with flames rapidly spreading from the roof to the building’s cockloft and through three penthouses on the top floor. Thankfully, the fire did not extend to adjacent buildings, although it caused significant smoke, dramatically impacting the neighborhood’s skyline.

Residents described hearing a loud explosion that shook the building, mistaking it initially for a collision or even an earthquake. One resident, working from home at the time, noted the building vibrated noticeably following the explosion, leading them to evacuate quickly.

Firefighting units arrived on the scene within minutes, and crews worked efficiently to contain the fire. Deputy Assistant Chief James Canty confirmed that three firefighters sustained minor injuries while tackling the fire.
