There are two practical ways we could proceed: 1. Approximate the strategy with a representative broad-market instrument – e.g., the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) or an equal-weighted S&P 500 index (ticker RSP). This would let us run an immediate, automated back-test (buy at today’s close, sell at next-day close) from 2022-01-03 to the present. Pause here and you provide (or confirm access to) a pre-computed daily return series for the exact “top 500 by volume” basket. If you have such a series, I can load it and run the performance analysis. Without that series, we’d need an external data wrangling step outside this chat to construct it. Which option would you prefer?
