Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin Advocates for Stability Over Flexibility

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, wants the blockchain to stop changing to prevent bugs and ensure stability. He suggests that the base layer should be locked down to prevent changes that could introduce bugs, while the surrounding ecosystem, such as layer 2 rollups and user-facing applications, can continue to evolve. Buterin also warned that elliptic curve cryptography, the foundation of Ethereum's security, is vulnerable to quantum computing and may be broken before the next US presidential election in 2028.
