Ethereum's Layer 2 network, Taiko, and DoraHacks, the world's largest hacker movement, are set to launch the largest anonymous community vote in crypto history. The initiative, part of the Taiko Grant Factory Hackathon, aims to advance decentralization in community governance. The hackathon has seen intense competition, with finalists now heading into the voting phase, a significant step towards large-scale, community-driven decision-making.
At the heart of this vote is the Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI), a privacy-preserving and collusion-resistant voting mechanism originally conceptualized by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. Dora Factory, a decentralized governance protocol, has developed the best MACI product on the market. For the final round of Taiko's Grant Factory Hackathon, voting will be executed entirely on-chain via MACI, ensuring encrypted ballots, zero-knowledge proof integrity, and protection against vote buying and collusion.
Over 920,000 participants are expected to take part, making it the largest whitelisted anonymous community vote in Ethereum's history. Taiko is distributing 50,000 Trailblazer points to participants as an incentive, which will later translate into an airdrop. Ben Wan, Taiko's Community Director, expressed excitement about bringing MACI to this scale and gratitude towards the community for participating in Taiko's growth.
Steve Ngok, Partner at DoraHacks, shared his enthusiasm for working with Taiko on launching the biggest MACI-powered vote in Ethereum history. DoraHacks and Dora Factory have committed resources to expanding Ethereum's mission, advancing MACI for decentralized governance and privacy protection.
