Fundstrat Global Advisors’ Tom Lee has issued a bold projection for
, forecasting it could rise to between $12,000 and $15,000 by the end of 2025. This assessment comes from a joint analysis conducted with Fundstrat’s Head of Research, Sean Farrell, who described Ethereum as “the biggest macro trade over the next 10–15 years.” The pair emphasized Ethereum’s role in integrating Wall Street with blockchain technology, driven by regulatory developments such as the Genius Act and the SEC’s Project Crypto [1].The bullish outlook is supported by Ethereum’s current on-chain activity, with the number of daily transactions nearing all-time highs and a 6% increase in active addresses in the last 24 hours. According to Nansen, Ethereum processed over 1.76 million transactions on August 13, approaching the record of 1.948 million transactions [2]. Additionally, the DeFiLlama data highlights Ethereum’s dominance in the DeFi space, holding 60.88% of the total value locked, which amounts to approximately $96.483 billion [3].
Lee has significant exposure to Ethereum, with his firm
Technologies holding 1.2 million ETH, valued at around $5.42 billion. To further increase its stake, the firm has expanded its at-the-market stock offering to raise up to $24.5 billion, all of which will be allocated toward Ethereum purchases [4]. This aggressive strategy mirrors the approach of other major institutional investors, aiming to establish one of the largest corporate Ethereum treasuries.Ethereum has also outperformed
in year-to-date gains, with ETH up 28% versus BTC’s 18%. In the last week alone, ETH surged over 23%, while Bitcoin rose only 4%. Institutional demand for Ethereum has further accelerated, with ETF inflows for ETH exceeding $2.2 billion in the past week compared to just $310 million for Bitcoin funds. BlackRock’s ETHA ETF has been a standout performer, recording over $800 million in inflows within 48 hours and accumulating over 105,900 ETH in a single day [5].While Ethereum faces competition from faster and cheaper blockchains like
and , it retains a first-mover advantage. Fundstrat argues that the growing adoption of stablecoins and Wall Street projects on Ethereum positions the network to benefit from the projected eightfold increase in the stablecoin market by 2028 [6].Lee’s forecast contrasts with more conservative predictions, such as Standard Chartered’s $7,500 target for Ethereum by year-end 2025. Fundstrat’s analysis suggests that such estimates underestimate the long-term institutional adoption and technological momentum Ethereum is experiencing. The firm has also formally included Ethereum in its “Mag7 & Bitcoin” fund, signaling confidence in its growth trajectory [7].
As the market continues to evolve, Ethereum appears to be at the forefront of the transition toward blockchain-based finance. With strong on-chain metrics, institutional inflows, and strategic corporate investments, Fundstrat’s Tom Lee believes Ethereum is well-positioned to achieve substantial price appreciation in the coming years.
