Ethereum Foundation's Goals Questioned by Crypto Mining VP

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently outlined two core goals for the Ethereum Foundation (EF). The primary objective is to boost Ethereum's usage, with a particular focus on ensuring that users genuinely benefit from the platform's underlying properties. The secondary goal is to enhance Ethereum's resilience and decentralization, identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities across the technology stack.

Pierre Rochard, the Vice President of Research at Riot Platforms, a prominent crypto mining firm, has expressed skepticism regarding these goals. Rochard argues that the Ethereum Foundation's objectives of increasing Ethereum's usage and enhancing its decentralization and resilience do not necessarily translate into increased value for ETH. He points out that Ethereum's usage can be achieved through other means, such as wBTC or USDT, which are stablecoins and wrapped tokens that can be used on the Ethereum network without directly increasing the value of ETH.

Rochard believes that these goals are partly foundational clichés and partly superficial. He suggests that the Ethereum Foundation should consider conducting an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the NASDAQ stock exchange. This move, according to Rochard, could provide a more tangible and direct way to increase the value of ETH. Additionally, he proposes that the Ethereum Foundation should execute an ETH treasury strategy through convertible bonds, which could offer a more structured approach to managing and growing the value of ETH.

Rochard's perspective highlights a broader debate within the crypto community about the best strategies for increasing the value and utility of digital assets. While the Ethereum Foundation's goals are focused on enhancing the platform's usability and security, Rochard's suggestions point to more traditional financial mechanisms that could potentially drive greater value for ETH holders.
