The
Foundation (EF) is at a critical juncture, with growing interest from enterprises, governments, and everyday users seeking practical solutions and tangible benefits from the Ethereum ecosystem. The EF has outlined two key goals: maximizing the number of people who benefit from Ethereum’s underlying values and enhancing the resilience of Ethereum’s technical and social infrastructure. These goals are to be achieved through Ecosystem Development (EcoDev) teams, which focus on removing bottlenecks to real-world use, onboarding users, supporting communities, providing grant funding, and stewarding the ecosystem. To better achieve these goals, the EF is significantly expanding and reorganizing its EcoDev efforts into four key areas: Ecosystem Acceleration, Ecosystem Amplification, Ecosystem Support, and Long-Term Ecosystem Unblocking. Ecosystem Acceleration aims to speed up the pace of ecosystem growth by working closely with developers, founders, app teams, and enterprises. This will be driven by four new teams: Enterprise Relations, Developer Growth, App Relations & Research, and Founder Success. These teams will provide clear resources, guidance, support, and mentorship tailored to the needs of businesses and individuals adopting Ethereum.
Ecosystem Amplification will focus on amplifying the impact of acceleration efforts and community-driven EcoDev work. This will be achieved through teams that track ecosystem growth, run targeted events, use media to educate and tell important stories about Ethereum, and leverage new tools and AI to enhance operations. The teams involved include Digital Studio, Strategic Events, Ethereum Everywhere, and EcoDev Automation. Devcon/nect will continue to organize large-scale annual events but will operate independently of the new EcoDev structure.
Ecosystem Support will continue to coordinate financial and non-financial support for initiatives across the Ethereum ecosystem. This includes the ESP/Grant Support team, which will emphasize more targeted applications and non-financial support, the Strategic Funding Initiatives team, which will co-fund vital public goods organizations, and the Launchpad team, which will assist organizations with operational design, sustainable funding, and governance challenges.
Long-Term Ecosystem Unblocking will address obstacles to adoption around the world through various streams of work, including Policy Coordination, Institutional Secretariat, and Academic Secretariat. These streams will monitor global issues, build relationships with governments and NGOs, and foster collaborations with universities to advance blockchain technology.
The EF recognizes that as Ethereum grows, there is more work to be done by the ecosystem to support and steward that growth. The foundation is excited to contribute in new ways and collaborate closely with the broader ecosystem, including organizations, companies, startups, event organizers, community members, investors, developers, and numerous other partners who drive Ethereum’s growth. The EF will continue to evolve its ecosystem development approaches, always asking where it can step in to do what no one else can do today, and working to help others increase their impact on the ecosystem, so that Ethereum becomes more resilient over time.
