Ethereum Community Unanimously Backs Danny Ryan as New Leader
The Ethereum community has overwhelmingly supported Danny Ryan as the new leader of the Ethereum Foundation in an informal on-chain vote. The poll, conducted on votedannyryan.com, saw 97% of addresses (325 in total) backing Ryan's candidacy, with only 3% (10 addresses) voting against. The supporting addresses held a total of 51,198 ETH, approximately $164 million, while the opposing addresses held only 8.85 ETH.
Danny Ryan, a former researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, has played a crucial role in the development of Ethereum 2.0. He served as the lead coordinator for the Ethereum "The Merge" upgrade and oversaw the launch of the Beacon Chain in 2021. Ryan has also been actively involved in Ethereum Improvement Proposals progress updates. His departure from the Ethereum Foundation was announced in September 2024, concluding his seven-year contribution to the Ethereum ecosystem.
The informal poll results indicate a strong consensus within the Ethereum community regarding Ryan's leadership. His extensive experience and contributions to the Ethereum ecosystem have evidently earned him the trust and support of the community. As the Ethereum Foundation moves forward, Ryan's appointment as the new leader could signal a period of stability and continuity in the project's development.
