Ethena Labs, a leading provider of Ethereum-based synthetic dollar protocols, has confirmed that it has no unrealized profit and loss (PNL) exposure to Bybit, following a significant security incident at the crypto exchange. The company assured users that its USDe stablecoin remains completely collateralized and held in off-exchange custody, with no backing funds on the exchange.

The confirmation comes after Ethena Labs initially approximated its unrealized PNL exposure to Bybit at below $30 million. However, the team swiftly reduced this exposure to $10 million and eventually to zero, demonstrating its commitment to minimizing risks and protecting user funds. Throughout the process, Ethena Labs maintained that its USDe stablecoin was entirely collateralized and immune to the security breach at the exchange.

Bybit recently suffered a large-scale exploit of its cold wallet, resulting in losses of approximately $1.4 billion. While the crypto community expressed concerns about potential ripple effects, Ethena Labs' rapid response to reduce its exposure to Bybit put users at ease, knowing that their funds were safe. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou responded to the concerns following the attack, acknowledging that withdrawals might be longer than normal due to network overload.
