EQT Corporation (NYSE: EQT), the largest integrated natural gas producer in the U.S., has been selected to serve as the natural gas supplier for the revamped Shippingport Power Station, a cutting-edge facility in Pennsylvania's Shippingport Industrial Park. The power station, which will significantly increase generation capacity, will also feature a data center to meet growing demand for AI infrastructure. EQT's role as the primary supplier supports the project's robust gas supply chain.

The Shippingport Power Station project, set to commence in 2025, will utilize approximately 800 million cubic feet per day of natural gas produced by the Marcellus and Utica shales in Western Pennsylvania. EQT, with its extensive production and midstream operations in the Appalachian Basin, will provide the necessary natural gas supply to support the new power plant. This strategic partnership underscores EQT's commitment to supporting America's energy goals and economic growth [1].

The redevelopment project is anticipated to bring substantial economic benefits to Pennsylvania, including over $6 billion in new economic activity, the creation of more than 15,000 construction jobs and 340 new full-time jobs in the region, and approximately $139 million in annual recurring revenue for the state. The project is expected to contribute over one gigawatt of excess capacity back to PJM Interconnection, boosting both regional and national power supply and enhancing grid reliability [2].

"As a Pennsylvania company, we are especially proud to be a part of this important project," said Toby Z. Rice, President and Chief Executive Officer of EQT. "We look forward to supporting Shippingport Power Station with reliable, affordable natural gas for the benefit of our state and for all Americans" [1].

National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation, a subsidiary of National Fuel Gas Company (NYSE: NFG), will also serve as a transporter for a significant portion of the natural gas supplies to the Shippingport Power Station, leveraging its interstate pipeline network to provide reliable deliveries of Appalachian Basin natural gas directly to the facility, with new transportation capacity expected to come online as early as Fall 2026 [1].

The Frontier Group of Companies, based in Buffalo, New York, specializes in site acquisition, environmental remediation, asset repurposing, energy generation, and industrial development of legacy brownfield sites. The company has a proven track record of successfully completing projects in over 30 states and seven countries [1].

In summary, the partnership between EQT and The Frontier Group of Companies represents a significant step forward in the energy sector, aiming to enhance power supply, support economic growth, and create high-quality employment opportunities in Pennsylvania.
