Zhitong Finance learned that energy stocks rose on Thursday, with USEG.US up more than 7%, HUSA.US up more than 11%, SLB.US and TTE.US up nearly 1%. On the news, data showed that more than 1.1 million households and businesses in the southeastern and midwestern regions of the United States were still without power as of Wednesday, a day after Hurricane Helene struck the Florida Panhandle region as a major hurricane. The number of outages was lower than the 1.7 million outages on Tuesday as power companies continue to restore electricity. The storm caused about 5.5 million customers to lose power, mainly in the southeastern region. According to PowerOutage.us, the utility company with the most outages is Duke Energy DUK.N, which has about 287,732 and 234,375 customers still without power in South Carolina and North Carolina, respectively. Duke said on Tuesday that it had restored power to about 1.6 million customers in Carolina and expects to restore most of the remaining outages by Friday evening.
