(UUUU) saw a significant surge in trading volume, with a total turnover of $25.7 million, marking a 39.16% increase from the previous day. The stock price of Energy Fuels rose by 11.17%, extending its winning streak to six consecutive days, with a cumulative gain of 63.86% over the past six days.Energy Fuels has commenced the production of Dysprosium oxide, a critical heavy rare earth element, at its White Mesa Mill in Utah. This development positions Energy Fuels as the sole commercial-scale producer of heavy rare earth elements in the United States. The company aims to achieve a minimum purity of 99.5% for Dysprosium oxide, with the potential to exceed 99.9%. The first kilogram of Dysprosium oxide is expected to be produced within 30 days, setting the stage for commercial-scale production by the end of 2026.
The strategic importance of heavy rare earth elements, particularly Dysprosium and Terbium, lies in their critical role in high-performance applications such as rare earth magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense technologies. The scarcity and processing complexity of these elements command premium prices, making them highly valuable in the global market. Energy Fuels' Donald Project in Australia contains high concentrations of heavy rare earth elements, with projected Phase 1 production of 7,100 tonnes of rare earth element concentrate annually. This project could supply a significant portion of the U.S. requirements for Samarium, Terbium, and Dysprosium, reducing dependence on Chinese supplies.
The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a pilot program to accelerate the development of advanced nuclear reactors and strengthen domestic supply chains for nuclear fuel. Energy Fuels is positioned as a primary candidate for this program, given its expertise in rare earth production and the strategic importance of its heavy rare earth element assets. This initiative aims to eliminate dependence on foreign uranium and power advanced reactors, aligning with broader efforts to bolster the U.S. supply chain for critical materials.
