Enbridge and its partners have reached a final investment decision to construct the Eiger Express Pipeline, which will transport 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Permian Basin to the Gulf Coast. The pipeline is a joint venture among WhiteWater, MPLX, ONEOK, and Enbridge, with a 70% ownership stake. Construction and operation will be managed by WhiteWater, with the pipeline expected to become operational by mid-2028 pending regulatory approvals.

Enbridge Inc. (NYSE: ENB) and its partners have reached a final investment decision to construct the Eiger Express Pipeline, a significant infrastructure project designed to transport natural gas from the Permian Basin to the Gulf Coast. The pipeline is a joint venture among WhiteWater, MPLX LP (NYSE: MPLX), ONEOK, Inc. (NYSE: OKE), and Enbridge, with a 70% ownership stake [1].

The Eiger Express Pipeline is designed to transport up to 2.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas through approximately 450 miles of 42-inch pipeline from the Permian Basin in West Texas to the Katy area near Houston, Texas. The pipeline will source natural gas from multiple processing facilities in the Midland and Delaware basins and is supported by firm transportation agreements with contract terms of 10 years or longer [2].

The joint venture, known as the Matterhorn JV, is owned 70% by the Matterhorn JV, 15% by ONEOK, and 15% by MPLX. ONEOK's total ownership interest in the pipeline is 25.5%, which includes its ownership interest in the Matterhorn JV. The pipeline is expected to be in service by mid-2028, pending regulatory and other approvals [1].

The Eiger Express Pipeline project is a significant development in the natural gas transportation sector, particularly given the growing demand for natural gas in the Gulf Coast region. The pipeline's construction will enhance the infrastructure for transporting natural gas from the Permian Basin to the Gulf Coast, facilitating the processing and export of natural gas [2].
