Elon Musk's SpaceX Starbase, located in Texas, has officially gained approval to establish itself as an autonomous municipality, marking a significant development in Musk's aerospace strategy in the region. The newly minted town spans 1.45 square miles and predominantly houses SpaceX employees and their families, becoming Cameron County's first new town in nearly three decades.

The governance of the new "SpaceX Star City" will fall under the jurisdiction of a city council comprised of three current or former SpaceX employees. They will oversee zoning, construction projects, and other municipal affairs in the area. This milestone demonstrates Musk's progress in Texas, leveraging the state's strong aerospace infrastructure and networks.

Since its inception in 2014, the Starbase has burgeoned into a comprehensive aerospace hub integrating research, testing, and launch functionalities with additional infrastructure such as clinics and schools.
